Our Charitable Status
Woodborough Village Preschool has been part of the Woodborough community since 1974, supporting generations of children and their families.
Today, we operate as Woodborough Village Preschool, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. We are governed by a board of charity trustees, supported by our voluntary committee, and exist solely to benefit children and families in our community.
As a charitable organisation, we have no owners or shareholders, and our resources are used to support our charitable purposes and the children in our care.

Our History and Previous Registration
Before becoming an incorporated charity, the preschool operated as an unincorporated charitable association under the name Woodborough Pre-School Playgroup, with the public-facing name Woodborough Village Pre-School.
Our former charity was registered with the Charity Commission under charity number 1030313 and operated under Ofsted registration URN 253232.
The change to a CIO established our new incorporated legal structure while allowing the preschool to continue serving local children and families.
Our former setting was inspected by Ofsted in March 2023 and received a GOOD judgement under the inspection framework in place at that time. This report remains available as part of our preschool's history.

Our Commitment to Good Governance
As a registered charity, we are committed to responsible governance, transparency and the wellbeing of the children in our care. Our responsibilities include:
- Meeting our reporting and accounting obligations to the Charity Commission.
- Maintaining appropriate safeguarding and risk management arrangements.
- Managing charitable funds responsibly and maintaining appropriate financial oversight.
- Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Complying with applicable data protection legislation.
- Maintaining appropriate complaints procedures and reporting serious incidents where required.
We are proud to be members of the Early Years Alliance and to remain an active part of the Woodborough community.
Our legal structure has changed, but our commitment to providing a welcoming, inclusive and nurturing preschool for local children remains at the heart of everything we do.
